The Aetna® difference: Unique benefits for you and your family

With Aetna health plans, you get access to helpful tools, tips, programs and services, including:

Personalized care and support based on your unique needs – It can be overwhelming to get a new diagnosis or get back on your feet after surgery. Our dedicated Nurse Care Managers are available to personally support you on your path to better health when you need it most. A Care Manager will work with you and your providers to support your care plan and help coordinate treatment.

Innovative digital experience to empower you – Your medical and pharmacy benefits and claims are all in one place with your Aetna Health member account.

  • We’re elevating how you can search for providers and estimate costs using the Aetna Health app. Our AI-powered “ask anything” search experience uses real-time data and personalization, asking you questions so we can find a provider that matches your unique needs.
  • We’re also working on a brand-new cost estimator tool that will show you estimates alongside provider information, helping you make decisions about your health and giving you more confidence that you have the information to navigate your health care needs. We expect the new feature to be released by the end of this year.

Dedicated member support – Your dedicated member support team can track down the information and answers you need about your medical and pharmacy benefits — so you can make fewer phone calls. New: Member support now includes two-way text support with our clinical and advocate teams!

Resources by condition or topic

We know that navigating your health plan can be complex. So, when you reach out to us for your health needs, we may connect you with a care manager. Your care manager is a registered nurse who understands and advocates for your health and will be your main point of contact. They can coordinate your care, linking you to the right resources and programs. Think of them as added support on top of the care you get from your doctor and specialists.

  • Chronic conditions such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes and more – We offer dedicated Nurse Care Managers to personally support you on your path to better health when you need it most. Our nurses utilize a “single point of contact” model and will work directly with you and your family to improve health outcomes in a way that’s convenient and effective for you. Our team includes a registered nurse care advocate, a medical director, a behavioral health specialist, a social worker, a registered dietitian and a clinical pharmacist.
  • Cancer – In addition to a dedicated Nurse Care team, we offer a comprehensive solution for members diagnosed with cancer, including personalized support through a personal navigator, tailored treatment plans and proactive genetic testing.
  • Maternity – The Aetna® Healthy Chapters™ maternity program provides you with support throughout your maternity journey. Our program includes nurse care management; genetic testing/counseling; post-partum depression screening and support; personalized campaigns on vaccines, pre-eclampsia and more; resource navigation; and access to a fertility advocate.
  • Gender affirmation – A gender diverse advocate is available to act as your single point of contact to support you and your provider during the precertification process, and to help you with understanding benefits, provider search and navigation, claims review, resource support, and general questions.
  • Children with special needs – Autism advocates, trained in autism spectrum disorder (ASD), are available to support you and your family as a single point of contact. Our advocates address questions about benefits and applied behavior analysis (ABA) authorizations, assist you with finding effective and quality providers, answer and resolve claims questions, and help assure that treatment is effective.
  • Preventive care – Covered at 100% as long as you are using an in-network provider. Examples include routine physical exams, colonoscopies and mammograms. A preventive health schedule is available for every member through their Aetna Health account — personalized based on their age and gender.
  • Virtual care – Teladoc Health, offered through Aetna, is a low-cost, convenient and quality alternative for non-emergency medical care. Teladoc Health also offers dermatology and mental health virtual visits (mental health visits for ages 13+, medication management for ages 18+). We also offer other virtual in-network providers that support mental well-being, digestive health, women’s health and lactation support.

With our confidential program, you’ll work side by side with your care team. We’ll help you find your way through the health care system, so you can get care earlier and feel better sooner. Aetna® behavioral health

Feeling your best

From time to time, we all feel a bit down or stressed — but sometimes these feelings can persist and get in the way of daily life. They could even be brought on by something related to physical health. It’s important to know that these feelings are common and, most of all, treatable. But the condition must be diagnosed first.

Your medical plan includes mental health benefits, so you’ll get the help and resources you may need to work toward feeling your best. These resources include:

  • 24/7 support to help you find the right care
  • Face-to-face counseling in the provider’s office, virtually or through telehealth
  • Online resources and tools, and more

AbleTo virtual therapy

Focusing on health conditions and life changes

Sometimes life can be overwhelming, leading to worry, stress and sadness. But you don’t have to go through it alone. With AbleTo, you’ll get virtual, personalized support that can help you feel better. Plus, you’ll learn how to better manage your emotions and improve your overall health in about eight weeks.

Once you connect with an Aetna® or AbleTo representative, they’ll explain more about the program and how it can help. They’ll also answer any questions you have.

Aetna does not recommend the self-management of health problems. Health information programs provide general health information and are not a substitute for diagnosis or treatment by a health care professional.

Aetna autism advocate

The right support when you need it

Families with children on the autism spectrum can face hurdles, like finding providers or figuring out plan coverage. But we’re here to help, every step of the way.

The most effective therapy considered for this condition is applied behavior analysis (ABA). We’ll help connect you with national services and treatment.

For more information or to connect with your autism advocate, call 1-866-724-0604, option 5. And visit the BH Institutes of QualityTM (IOQ).

Aetna mental well-being telehealth/virtual services

Meet with a counselor anywhere, at your convenience

With telehealth or virtual services, you have another way to get help from trained mental health providers. And whatever you’re facing, you have the same support you’d get in person from psychiatrists, social workers, marriage counselors and more. You can easily connect with your provider by using your smart device or webcam-equipped computer that’s connected to the internet.

With these counseling and medication management services, you can:

  • Get online, expert care and support
  • Talk with a coach 24/7 using apps, video chats and text messages
  • Connect with the same provider throughout your care, so there’s no need to readjust to someone new
  • Choose when and how you meet — anywhere you’re most comfortable
  • Decide what works for you — at your own pace and convenience
  • Speak freely and privately

A mental health telehealth or virtual session costs the same as a face-to-face office visit. To find a provider in your area, just call us at the number on your member ID card. Or use our provider search tool on Aetna.com and search for mental health.

Not all services are covered. See plan documents for a complete description of benefits, exclusions and limitations of coverage. Plan features and availability may vary by location and are subject to change.

Providers are independent contractors and are not agents of Aetna®. Provider participation may change without notice.
