During your first visit

Your virtual care provider will spend 30–45 minutes with you to review your overall health. They’ll get to know your unique health needs and goals. Then, they’ll create a care plan that’s just right for you.

When you search for providers or procedures on our Aetna HealthSM app, member website or public DocFind, simply look for the “Quality and Effective Care” designation. These doctors have demonstrated a higher standard for quality and cost effectiveness. This means they:

• Recommend appropriate testing and treatments for their patients

As an Aetna member, you’ll have access to the Institutes of Quality. This network of hospitals and facilities specializes in bariatric, cardiac and orthopedic procedures. You may even pay less out of pocket at an Institutes of Quality facility.*

These approved facilities must meet our strict standards for clinical quality and efficiency. We measure factors like:

• The level of patient care
• How often people return to the hospital after surgery
• The number of procedures a facility performs

Specialized care when you need it

Here’s how it works

After 2nd.MD collects all your pertinent records, you:

• Select one of three specialists from more than 120 recognized specialties
• Talk to the specialist by video or phone (usually within three days)
• Receive the specialist’s written recommendation within 24 hours, as well as referral for follow-up care, if necessary
